Matt Schumacher

Matt Schumacher is a communications consultant who has worked with Fortune 500 companies, privately held companies, and high profile civic organizations throughout his career. In his current role, Matt partners with clients to co-develop communication, event and branding strategies for both internal and external audiences that drive results.

Prior to joining Schumacher Creative, Matt led Monsanto Company’s Global Employment Branding team and oversaw all marketing related to recruiting, talent acquisition, and diversity and inclusion. In this role, Matt was directly responsible for Monsanto’s global employment-focused communications including print collateral, online recruiting presence, social media, and digital marketing campaigns.

Matt developed Monsanto’s global reputation as an “Employer of Choice” throughout the world by communicating the value of the Monsanto employment experience to both internal and external audiences. During his tenure, Monsanto was recognized four times on Great Place to Work’s list of the World’s Best Multinational Workplaces, ranking #9 in 2015, #8 in 2014, #12 in 2013 and #14 in 2012. In addition, he positioned Monsanto for recognition from DiversityInc, Working Mother, Science Magazine, Glassdoor and FORTUNE magazine.

His viewpoints and perspectives on branding and communications have been published on both the local and national level. Matt has been quoted numerous times in the St. Louis Business Journal, as well as appearing in industry publications such as: Employer Brand Management: Practical Lessons from the World’s Leading Employers by Richard Mosley.

Prior to Monsanto, he managed the U.S. consumer seminar program at Edward Jones and worked with financial advisors to create new business opportunities with prospective and existing clients. Matt has also worked with St. Louis civic organizations the St. Louis Regional Business Council and St. Louis 2004. He holds a master’s degree in media communications and a Bachelor of Science.

An active community leader, Matt previously served as president of the St. Louis chapter of the American Parkinson Disease Association Board of Directors. Matt has also served on the committees for Opera Theatre of St. Louis’ wine and beer tasting, as well as its fundraising gala, for seven years. Matt is also an active volunteer for Missouri Cures, helping in 2006 to defeat Amendment Two and to ensure Missouri residents continued access to cutting-edge medical technologies. He is a member of the St. Louis Zoo’s Marlin Perkins Society, The Landmarks Association of St. Louis, Beaux Arts Council of the Saint Louis Art Museum, and the Jefferson Club and Tiger Scholarship Fund at the University of Missouri.
